Jump Points were the product of the Three. Each jump point orbited a planet in several star systems at the same time, providing near-instantaneous transportation between star systems. A jump was the process of travelling from one star system to another by way of a jump point. In a single star system, it was possible for jump points to share space.
It was not possible to jump from a star system to every other star system; a jump point had to have been previously created.
Quantum gravity research led to the discovery of the first jump point in the vicinity of Jupiter. It led humanity, indirectly, to what became New Eden.
Jump points have differing levels of safety. "A" is most dangerous; "H" is safest.
Earth has one jump point, a level "H."
